What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Designer II position at Davis Technical College?
Ensure that Davis Technical College programs provide engaging and relevant curriculum that promotes student development and economic growth. Ensure curriculum and training development complies with relevant regulatory requirements. Provide teacher training opportunities for faculty members.
- Responsible for the development of effective, efficient, engaging, and relevant training. Work with subject matter experts to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of students in meeting current industry needs.
- Ensure faculty members have the knowledge and skills to develop and publish program curriculum including the program orientation, syllabi, work-based learning, web information, and program applications.
- Assist department personnel and faculty in the development of print and non-print instructional media including, but not limited to video and audio, learning resources, and instructional activities.
- Provide training to faculty on software for developing curriculum.
- Train faculty in the development of assessments that effectively and accurately measure learning outcomes.
- Assist faculty with the selection of instructional materials by evaluating relevance and verifying compliance with copyright and disability laws.Ensure that remediation of digital materials meets accessibility requirements.
- Train faculty on the use and management of a Learning Management System (Canvas), to include monitoring of student progress and participation, electronic footprints, grade books, and completion.
- Provide current faculty with proper training resources to ensure best practices in teaching.
- Provide proper documentation to illustrate that educational programs are compliant with institutional accreditation standards.
- At the direction of Training Directors,,conduct quality curriculum reviews in programs to confirm that curriculum follows best practices in curriculum and instruction. Make recommendations for improvements where necessary and assist in implementing these improvements. .
- Assist with troubleshooting and support of technical learning resources to facultyand students.
- Accurately enter modules and course material in the Student Information System.
- Continually maintain knowledge and skills that are current in education technology; instructional design; distance education; and learning, content, media, and assessment management systems as office software.
- Work efficiently and accurately on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines, completing projects on schedule.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technical Writing, Media Design, or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in technology-based instructional design with a learning management system, such as Canvas.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Writing, editing, technical troubleshooting, and organizational skills with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy required.
- Organizational skills with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships, communicate clearly.
- Ability to continuously provide quality service and process improvements to support the College’s mission and strategic vision.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex assignments.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, Education, or related field.
- Prior experience with accrediting body requirements and documentation.
- Prior experience working with subject-matter experts to develop instructional materials.
- Previous experience with Canvas.
