Overview:
The Instructional Designer I at Sure Steel, Inc. is an entry-level position within the Learning & Development team, responsible for assisting in the design and development of engaging and effective learning materials and resources. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to analyze training needs, design instructional content, and create learning experiences that support the professional growth and development of employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Learning Needs Analysis:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and identify learning objectives and requirements.
- Analyze data and feedback from performance evaluations, surveys, and other sources to determine training priorities and areas for improvement
2. Instructional Design:
- Assist in the design and development of instructional materials and resources, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and assessments.
- Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theories to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
3. Content Development:
- Develop multimedia learning assets, such as videos, animations, simulations, and interactive exercises, to enhance learning experiences.
- Write clear and concise instructional content, scripts, and storyboards for various delivery modalities.
- Utilize authoring tools and e-learning software to develop and publish online learning modules.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Review and edit instructional materials for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with learning objectives.
- Conduct usability testing and pilot evaluations to gather feedback and make improvements to learning materials.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and best practices in instructional design.
5. Learning Technology Integration:
- Assist in the integration of learning materials into learning management systems (LMS) and other learning platforms.
- Collaborate with technical support teams to troubleshoot issues related to course deployment and functionality.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and e-learning development.
6. Project Coordination:
- Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure timely completion of instructional design projects.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, milestones, and challenges.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project documentation and tracking systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning & Development, or a related. Candidates with relevant work experience in educational technology, content development, or related fields may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Relevant coursework or certifications in instructional design, e-learning development, or adult education preferred.
- Previous experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or related fields preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and e-learning authoring tools is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify learning needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Proficiency in using e-learning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality instructional materials.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
