Kaysville Jr High is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior High Track & Field Distance Coach to work with student-athletes in grades 7–9. The distance coach will focus on developing endurance, pacing, and mental toughness while fostering a positive team culture and a lifelong appreciation for fitness and running. Primary Responsibilities:
- Coach and develop student-athletes in distance events (e.g., 800m, 1600m)
- Plan and lead age-appropriate training sessions focused on endurance, pacing, and race strategy
- Teach proper running form, breathing techniques, and injury-prevention practices
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive team environment
- Supervise athletes during practices, meets, and team activities
- Communicate effectively with the head coach, athletes, and parents
- Support and enforce school and district policies
- Emphasize sportsmanship, effort, personal growth, and goal-setting Qualifications:
- Experience coaching track and field and/or distance running preferred
- Experience working with junior high–aged students strongly preferred
- Knowledge of distance training principles and athlete safety
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate and positively influence student-athletes
