Applications are being accepted by the College Place School District for a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Support Specialist to join our Davis Elementary School team. As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address and manage behavioral challenges exhibited by students in the school setting. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement effective schoolwide systems, strategies and interventions to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs, fostering a positive learning environment for all.

Job Title: Elementary School Behavior Support Specialist (Teacher On Special Assignment)
Reports to: Assigned Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt
Position: 8 hours per day, 187 days per school year (10 months)
Salary: $58,977- $114,490
Anticipated Start Date: 08/01/2026
Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision, FSA/DCAP, Life/AD&D through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board); and Retirement through DRS (Department of Retirement Systems) for eligible employees
Additional Benefits: Optional 403(b) retirement plan; Optional DCP (deferred compensation program) retirement plan

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An unwavering commitment to and love of children.
- Strong ability to foster healthy, quality relationships with staff, students, parents, and colleagues.
- Understanding and experience working with trauma-informed practices, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), PBIS
- Knowledge and experience in program and system development, management, and support.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire vision, motivate excellence in instruction, and model service-oriented administration.
- Current OSPI Approved K-8 Teaching or Educational Staff Associates (ESA) certification
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Successful experience as an Elementary School Behavior Support Specialist.
- K-5 Elementary experience.
- Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful. District tests to verify skill levels.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Foster Successful PBIS Implementation:
- Implement the principles and practices of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the school environment.
- Work with the PBIS team and Student Focus Team to develop and implement school-wide behavior expectations and systems.
- Collaborate with teachers to create and implement classroom behavior management strategies consistent with PBIS.
- Support Behavior Intervention Implementation:
- Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to address behavior challenges in classrooms, small groups, or individual settings.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and support to ensure consistent implementation of behavior plans.
- Collaborate with teachers to modify instructional strategies and classroom environment to support positive behavior.
- Support the implementation of Purposeful People Curriculum in all classrooms.
- Implement Behavior Assessment and Planning:
- Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments to identify students' individual needs and challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals in the development of individualized plans for students.
- Provide Individual and Group Student Support:
- Provide individual and group support to students to address emotional and behavioral issues.
- Teach and reinforce appropriate social skills and conflict resolution strategies.
- Offer crisis intervention and support during challenging situations.
- Support Classroom Teachers:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support the implementation of behavior management strategies for students with problem behaviors.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for teachers on effective behavior intervention techniques and PBIS strategies with the goal of teacher self-sufficiency.
- Serve as a resource for teachers in addressing challenging behaviors and developing proactive approaches to classroom management.
- Successfully Collect, Analyze, and Use Data:
- Collect and analyze data related to student behavior to monitor progress and make data-driven decisions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interventions, progress, and outcomes.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing student progress and program effectiveness.
