Job Summary: The Leadership Gifts Officer is a mission-driven major gifts professional responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of leadership-level donors in support of DLC's current comprehensive campaign, future capital campaign initiatives and annual giving efforts.

The Leadership Gifts Officer serves as a trusted connector between donors and mission-deeply understanding the programs, people, and long-term vision of DLC and translating that impact into meaningful philanthropic partnerships rooted in trust, transparency, and purpose.


Key Responsibilities:


Outcomes & Accountabilities

- Grow and actively manage a portfolio of leadership-level donors and prospects aligned with DLC's strategic priorities.

- Increase leadership and major gift revenue in support of the comprehensive campaign, capital initiatives, and long-term sustainability.

- Deliver exceptional, values-aligned donor experiences that reflect DLC's Best-In-Class culture.

- Maintain accurate donor strategies, forecasts, and engagement records to support accountability and decision-making.

- Strengthen a culture of philanthropy by collaborating across departments and engaging leadership and volunteers in donor relationships.


Donor Relationship Management

- Manage a dynamic portfolio of leadership-level donors through strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

- Conduct meaningful donor visits and engagement opportunities that build long-term philanthropic partnerships.


Campaign & Major Gift Strategy

- Play an active role in comprehensive and capital campaign efforts, including prospect strategy, proposal development, and solicitation pacing.

- Collaborate closely with the Director of Philanthropy & Institutional Giving and senior leaders on donor strategy and forecasting.


Stewardship & Donor Engagement

- Ensure timely, personalized stewardship and impact reporting.

- Partner with Marketing, Events, and Development Operations to deliver high-touch donor experiences.


Team & Culture Contribution

- Model DLC's Best-In-Class Values and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative development team.

- Participate in strategic planning, team meetings, and professional development aligned with EOS and accountability frameworks.

- Demonstrate a clear understanding of major gift fundraising, donor psychology, and DLC's mission and strategic priorities.

- Bring intrinsic motivation to build authentic donor relationships and advance behavioral health care through philanthropy.

- Possess the experience, discipline, emotional intelligence, and executional strength to manage a portfolio, close leadership gifts, and follow through with excellence.


Required Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred.


- 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in major or leadership gifts fundraising.


- Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure gifts.


- Experience supporting comprehensive and/or capital campaigns strongly preferred.


- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.


- Proficiency with donor databases/CRMs and data-informed fundraising strategy.


- Microsoft Office 365 skills (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience.


- Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations.


- Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting (General Information can be found HERE), Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check


Physical Requirements: This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
