Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) professional to join the Dave Wilson Nursery team. This position is ideal for someone passionate about ensuring the highest level of quality across greenhouse and bareroot farming operations.
Responsibilities:
Define and implement robust processes and procedures to uphold the highest quality standards. Report directly to senior management on quality-related matters.
Manage and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and customer service. Oversee greenhouse sanitation controls to maintain optimal conditions.
Monitor crop protection protocols in the greenhouse to ensure uniformity and consistent applications. Research and implement best practices for growing nursery stock in the agriculture industry. Monitor loading and shipping processes to guarantee complete and accurate customer loads. Implement programs and training to enable employees to monitor inventory for quality and consistency. Evaluate processes continuously for improvement opportunities. Implement strategies to ensure tree grading consistency. Responsible for conducting audit on random propagation lots to determine propagation success rate. Responsible for checking control of recently transplanted plant material to make sure it meets planting requirements. Responsible for conducting audit on TC and cutting propagation areas to ensure that the protocols are implemented correctly. Responsible for field visits for quality assurance.
Specific Activities May Include:
Receiving Inspection SOP: Develop an SOP for receiving inspections, outlining procedures to thoroughly check incoming material for quality and consistency.
Sampling Protocols: Establish SOPs for systematic sampling of inventory to ensure representativeness and accuracy in quality assessments.
Quality Metrics Tracking: Implement SOPs for tracking and monitoring key quality metrics, such as defect rates, size variations, and other relevant parameters.
Input Material Inventory Auditing Procedures: Define procedures for regular inventory audits to identify discrepancies and ensure alignment with documented quality standards.
Storage Conditions SOP: Specify SOPs for maintaining appropriate storage conditions, including temperature and humidity controls, to prevent quality degradation.
Labeling and Documentation SOP: Develop SOPs for accurate labeling and documentation of inventory, facilitating traceability and quality history tracking.
Training Programs: Implement training SOPs to ensure that staff involved in handling inventory are well-trained on quality control processes.
Communication Protocols: Establish SOPs for effective communication within the team regarding inventory quality issues, ensuring prompt resolution.
Supplier Quality Assessment SOP: Develop a robust SOP for assessing and monitoring the quality of inventory received from suppliers, including evaluation criteria.
Continuous Improvement Procedures: Outline procedures for continuous improvement, encouraging QA/QC employees to suggest and implement enhancements to the inventory monitoring process.
Skills and experience required:
Given the precision required in farming processes, a keen attention to detail is essential to identify and address quality issues promptly.
Familiarity with and adherence to agricultural regulations and compliance standards
The ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions, unexpected challenges, and the resilience to maintain focus under pressure is crucial in dynamic farming environments.
Familiarity with agricultural technology and tools for monitoring and improving processes, including data-driven decision-making, is an asset.
A commitment to continuous improvement, including evaluating processes and implementing enhancements, demonstrates a proactive approach to quality management.
Emphasis on proactive measures to prevent issues, aligning with a preventive rather than reactive QA/QC strategy.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
The candidate must be bilingual.
Minimum experience in QA/QC.

Pay: $69,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
