This leadership position ensures that The Library has a positive impact on our community by developing and deploying a mission-critical Adult Programming and Outreach Community Engagement strategy, including identifying and developing key relationships with our diverse community partners. The Adult Programming and Outreach Administrator works as the key liaison to local organizations, guiding the programming and outreach team in program development with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the areas of strategic focus identified in The Library’s strategic plan. This leadership position mentors and supervises the P&O Administrative Assistant and Adult Programing and Outreach Specialists, providing expert advice and best practices to support their work.
Required Performance Standards
Primarily works indoors. Travels among facilities and educational organizations. Provides own transportation and is reimbursed accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training: BA/BS degree in a related field.
Experience: Demonstrated experience with community building practices, developing and fostering community relations. Direct experience with project management and program development. Technology experience required. Bilingual preferred.
Required: Requires current and valid driver’s license (if required to operate a Dauphin County Library System vehicle, insurance underwriter requires minimum of three years driving experience), excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, to place materials on high and low shelves.

- Establishes and maintains relationships with partner organizations within Dauphin County.
- Communicates community needs and sets direction for Adult programs and outreaches in consultation with the Public Services Director to align with the strategic plan.
- Works with the Community Relations Department to ensure that the community is aware of program and outreach opportunities and that the manner of communication supports a diverse community.
- Supervises staff to help to set direction for their team and align programming practices with the P&O plan, including evaluations and reporting.
- Organizes and maintains a list of past & future adult programs and outreaches.
- Organizes adult programs and outreach department meetings and attends continuing education workshops. Participates in library committees.
- Proactively promotes The Library’s programs, collections and services in all library and outreach settings.
- Lives by the Core Values.
- Prepares monthly narrative and statistical reports.
- Performs other related duties.
