Job Title
IT Healthcare Consultant / Project Manager – Medicaid Systems Operational Management
Key Details
- Location: Columbia, SC (1801 Main St)
- Schedule: Fully onsite for first 30–90 days; transitions to Hybrid (min. 3 days/week onsite)
- Residency Requirement: Must be a current SC resident or willing to relocate to SC prior to start at own expense
- Schedule Flexibility: Fast-paced; requires after-hours and on-call support for releases and incidents
Position Overview
Lead operational management and support teams for business-critical Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), Encounter Processing Systems, and replacement implementations within the South Carolina Department of Health & Human Services (SCDHHS).
Key Responsibilities
- System & Vendor Management: Oversee MMIS operational support, coordinate with vendors/internal IT units, and monitor SLAs.
- Team Leadership: Lead production support, helpdesk, EDI/interface, and UAT teams (5 staff).
- Incident & Release Management: Manage issue escalation, ticket resolution, release readiness, and post-implementation monitoring.
- Process & Compliance: Develop SOPs/desk aides, train staff, ensure CMS/SSA security compliance, and support change management backlogs.
Qualifications
Required
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or healthcare field (or 5 years equivalent IT/systems experience).
- Project Management: 5 years managing system implementations or enhancements.
- Healthcare Operations: 3 years managing system operations or administrative program functions in a healthcare environment.
- Availability: Ability to provide after-hours and on-call incident management.
Preferred
- Direct experience managing operations or domain concepts for Medicaid Enterprise Systems / MMIS (eligibility, enrollment, claims).
- Experience creating SOPs, desk aides, process flows, and using ticketing systems.
- AWS Cloud certifications.
- Strong reporting, presentation, and SDLC expertise.
