Role Description The Junior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This position supports the estimating team by reviewing project specifications and drawings, assisting in quantity takeoffs, and preparing preliminary cost estimates for IT, AV, Security, and related integration projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and organizing vendor quotes, updating pricing databases, and collaborating with project managers and engineers to align estimates with scope and timelines. The Junior Estimator helps prepare bid proposals, maintains documentation, and contributes to value engineering efforts to ensure competitive and accurate submissions. This role requires close attention to detail, clear communication, and a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced, technical environment.
Qualifications
- Foundational skills in estimating or construction/technology project support, including basic quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and familiarity with project documentation.
- Comfort with technical environments, with interest or exposure to IT, AV, Security, or low-voltage systems and the desire to deepen trade-specific knowledge.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and the ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients.
- Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, recordkeeping, and documentation.
- Ability to work on-site full time in New York, NY and adapt to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, technology, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with estimating or project management software is a plus; prior internship or entry-level experience in construction, integration, or technology services is beneficial.
