As our project pipeline expands, we are looking for a motivated Junior Construction Estimator ready to sharpen their technical skills in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Position Overview
This is a high-impact, junior-level entry-level role designed for a candidate with 1–5 years of experience seeking to master the art of preconstruction. You will work side-by-side with senior estimators and project managers to prepare competitive bids for complex exterior restoration projects. This role offers deep exposure to public-sector bidding and technical cost analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Technical Analysis
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and technical bid documents to determine project scope.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for masonry, façade, roofing, and window systems.
- Assist in building comprehensive cost models (labor, material, and equipment).
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Solicit and track bids from subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Conduct "scope leveling" to ensure subcontractor proposals are complete and competitive.
- Help maintain a robust network of reliable vendors and specialty trades.
Bid Administration
- Assist in the assembly of formal bid packages and proposal documentation.
- Maintain meticulous bid files and update historical cost data for future benchmarking.
- Participate in pre-bid walk-throughs and site visits to understand field conditions.
Qualifications
Required:
- 1–5 years of construction industry experience (Estimating, Project Coordination, or Field experience).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural & structural drawings.
- High expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to meet tight bid deadlines.
Preferred:
- Prior exposure to building envelope/exterior restoration work.
- Experience with NYC public agencies (SCA, NYCHA, DASNY, etc.).
- A long-term desire to grow into a Senior Estimator or Preconstruction Manager.
Compensation & Growth
- Salary: $75,000 – $110,000 (Commensurate with experience).
- Career Path: This role is a direct pipeline to Senior Estimator or Preconstruction Manager roles. We prioritize internal promotion and professional development.
