Overview

Senior Clinician Investigator

Intervention, Services Delivery, or Implementation Science

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center - Lebanon, NH

The Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health located in beautiful northern New England is seeking a mid-career or Senior Clinician Investigator and faculty member (MD, PhD or MD/PhD) with an established research program in interventions, health care delivery science or implementation science to complement faculty and clinical strengths of the department.

In this position, the successful candidate will have 3 main components to their role:

  • Research: Lead and continue to build a successful program of externally funded, high-impact applied research, typically leading to program projects, center grants, and/or research training grants. Ideally, research will connect to active departmental clinical activities and initiatives.
  • Mentor: Actively mentor early career researchers in developing their own independently funded research careers through, for example, K awards and other mentored career development awards and postdoctoral research fellows.
  • Leadership: Strengthen the research infrastructure of the Department of Psychiatry, by, for example: (a) helping lead the department’s early career research funding programs; (b) building research collaborations within the department and across Dartmouth Health (DH); (c) collaborating in the design and implementation of the department’s research education and mentoring programs; and/or (d) joining in the leadership of relevant research programs across DH (see opportunities, below).
  • Dartmouth Health offers numerous opportunities to the successful candidate for research leadership, mentoring, collaborations, and practice sites.  Some relevant examples with involvement of department faculty include: (a) DH Center for Rural Health Care Delivery Science, a NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) focusing on research career development; (b) Northern New England CO-OP Practice and Community Based Research Network (NNE CO-OP PCBRN), a large, three-state research network of community-based primary care practices; (c) Center for Technology and Behavioral Health (CTBH), an NIH-funded interdisciplinary research group focused on the development, scientific evaluation, and sustainable implementation of digital therapeutics for behavioral health; and (d) Dartmouth Center for Implementation Science (DCIS), a Dartmouth-wide center with the mission to advance the science and practice of implementation through research, training and education.

Dartmouth Health seeks candidates who have a strong orientation to collaboration, the capacity to mentor early career clinician-researchers, trainees, and medical students, and a strong track record of extramural funding.  Successful candidates will have a scientist position (Senior or Principal Investigator) at Dartmouth Health and an academic appointment (Associate or Full Professor) in the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.   Preferred candidates will have a doctoral degree with relevant clinical experience.  The Department of Psychiatry is underwriting this position with long-term salary support and significant start-up funding.
