Overview
Darkbird Taphouse in Peosta, IA is seeking a motivated and hands-on Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our taphouse. This role is a blend of team leadership, bartending support, and behind-the-scenes operational work focused on keeping service running smoothly and consistently.
Darkbird Taphouse is a craft beer and cocktail destination known for our rotating selection of 20 beers on tap, elevated pub-style menu, and a lively, community-focused atmosphere built around great food, drinks, and hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Support bar opening, closing, and day-to-day service operations
- Support service as needed during scheduled shifts, including occasional bartending responsibilities as part of assigned hours
- Manage inventory, ordering, and weekly stock of supplies (bar, wine, liquor, cleaning, etc.)
- Assist with hiring, training, and onboarding new staff
- Step into on-site management coverage for nights, weekends, and events as needed
- Coordinate basic maintenance and equipment issues with ownership
- Manage backend POS functions (TOAST)
- Support weekly specials and promotions
- Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall bar upkeep
- Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent staff or equipment needs
Requirements
- Previous bartending or bar leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, events)
- Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented mindset
- Comfortable balancing hands-on service with administrative responsibilities
Job Type: Part-Time, with potential for Full-Time
Schedule: Days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Pay: Based on experience
