Position Summary
The School Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all school facilities. This role provides hands-on leadership to maintenance staff, ensures a safe, clean, and functional learning environment, and coordinates preventative maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in facilities management and a proven record of leading teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily maintenance operations for all school buildings, grounds, and related systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs).

Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate maintenance staff; provide clear direction and leadership to ensure high performance and accountability.

Assign and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to school operations.

Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and compliance issues.

Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of building systems and equipment.

Coordinate with school administrators, vendors, and contractors regarding repairs, projects, and service agreements.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours needs as required.

Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, inventory, and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, and developing maintenance teams.

Strong working knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance practices, and safety standards.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.

Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order software.

Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and security clearances as required by the school or district.
Preferred Qualifications
