What are the responsibilities and job description for the Videographer Intern position at Dardano's?
Location: Denver Broomfield (on-site)
Schedule: Full Time or Part-time (hours flexible)
Duration: 3–6 months (with potential to extend)
Reports to: Ownership General Management (collaborating with Marketing and Department Leads)
About the Role
Dardano's is building Dardano's EDU, a high-quality online training platform used to coach and train new hires across our business. We are hiring a Videographer Intern / Junior Videographer because we want someone who is professionally skilled at filming and editing video content, and who can help us create a polished, consistent, best-in-class training library.
You will work closely with ownership and general management on a clear outline of assets to produce. Dardano's provides the creative direction, and our employees will be the on-camera talent. We will rely on you to shoot, edit, and publish content to the training platform as we build it.
Most training videos will be short form (30 seconds to 5 minutes), clear, and repeatable. In addition to Dardano's EDU, you will also help create high-quality photo and video content for social media, advertising, and website imagery.
This is a fun opportunity to champion a meaningful project, build a strong portfolio, and gain exposure to a dynamic retail business that does a lot of marketing and advertising.
What You'll Do
Dardano's EDU Training Content (Primary Focus)
- Film and edit short-form training videos (30s to 5 mins) based on provided outlines.
- Collaborate with ownership, general management, and department leaders to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Create a consistent look and feel across the training library (lighting, audio, framing, pacing, branding).
- Publish and organize finished content inside the Dardano's EDU training platform as we go.
- Maintain a clean file system for footage, project files, exports, and revisions.
Marketing Brand Content (Secondary Focus)
- Capture photo and video assets for website, social media, and in-store storytelling.
- Create content for paid advertising: short video ads, cutdowns, and supporting creative.
- Assist with basic graphic creation as needed (ad variations, overlays, titles, simple layout work).
- Optimize content formats for platform needs (IG Reels, TikTok, YouTube, Meta ads, website).
Required Technical Skills
- Strong fundamentals in video production: composition, lighting, and sound capture.
- Ability to run a small shoot: camera setup, lighting placement, audio setup, basic set styling.
- Editing skills with clean pacing, strong audio, readable on-screen text, and consistent exports.
- Comfort owning the workflow end-to-end: ingest, organize, edit, color, sound, export, publish.
Software Expectations (Must Have)
- Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Audio cleanup: Adobe Audition (or equivalent tools inside your editing workflow)
- Graphics light design work: Photoshop Illustrator (or equivalent)
- Basic motion graphics: After Effects (or equivalent) for titles, lower thirds, and simple animation
- Deliverables for multiple platforms: exporting correct aspect ratios, codecs, file sizes, and caption-safe layouts
Equipment Expectations
- You can work with your own gear or Dardano's gear depending on what we have available. Either way, you should be confident using:
- Mirrorless/DSLR camera systems (manual exposure, focus, frame rates)
- Tripod, handheld stabilization (basic gimbal experience is a plus)
- Lighting (softboxes/LED panels) and basic 3-point setups
- Audio capture (wireless lavs and/or shotgun mic), and syncing audio reliably
Qualifications
- Portfolio website required (training, YouTube, Reels/TikTok, commercial, or documentary-style content all welcome).
- Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Film, Media, Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent self-taught experience with strong portfolio).
- Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple small deliverables per week.
- Positive, coachable, and able to direct non-actors in a friendly way to get clean takes.
What You'll Gain
- A portfolio-worthy body of work built around a real, high-impact project (Dardano's EDU).
- Hands-on experience working directly with ownership and leadership.
- Exposure to retail marketing, advertising creative, and brand storytelling.
- A role with meaningful ownership, not just task support.
