Overview
Danziger Legal PLLC is a growing real estate and mediation law firm serving New York and Connecticut. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our team as an independent contractor with the opportunity to transition into an employee role.
The position will begin remote/virtual during training and probation, then transition to in-person work (4 days/week) at our Mt. Kisco, NY office. Over time, the role will grow into a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with expanded responsibilities and hours.

Duties
- Manage and organize case files in Dropbox using consistent naming conventions
- Draft contracts and legal documents using firm templates in Word
- Maintain checklists and file trackers in Excel (update daily)
- Handle client, broker, and lender communications (emails, calls, texts) with professionalism
- Make and take calls to follow up on client, broker, lender, and vendor items
- Intake management for prospective clients
- Provide administrative support: scheduling, calendar management, and follow-ups
- Assist in creating and editing firm templates, SOP documents, and checklists to improve efficiency and consistency
- Support marketing initiatives, including creating and implementing social media posts, newsletters, and Google review requests
Growth Duties
- Take on expanded paralegal work (title review, closing preparation, drafting riders) as skills grow
- Manage marketing implementation more independently (campaigns, blog/social content, review systems)
- Transition into a broader support role covering administrative, paralegal, and marketing functions as the firm expands
Requirements
- Fast, reliable computer with video capability is essential (must screen-share smoothly in training)
- High-speed internet connection for Zoom/Google Meet
- Strong proofreading and writing skills
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Dropbox, Gmail, and Google Calendar
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to make and take follow-up calls in a professional, courteous manner
- Proactive problem-solver and self-sufficient — bring suggestions/solutions, not just questions
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly and contribute quickly
- Positive, respectful attitude and ability to work independently once trained
Compensation & Hours
- Independent Contractor Stage (initial):
- Approximately 15 hours/week for first 3–4 weeks (training and probation)
- Expands to ~20 hours/week after the first 1–2 months
- Must bill the firm weekly for hours worked, with hours capped unless otherwise agreed in advance
- Flexible schedule, no benefits
- Employee Stage (future): Transition to part-time or full-time W-2 employment with benefits, including 401k and Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Hours expected to grow to 25–30 per week as the role transitions to in-person and responsibilities expand
Work Location
- Phase 1: Remote/virtual (training and probation)
- Phase 2: In-person at Mt. Kisco, NY office (Mon–Fri schedule, 25–30 hours/week as role grows)
- Phase 3: Limited hybrid flexibility (1 remote day/week) after proving reliability
