Danville Area School District’s "Danville Head Start Pre-K" program has an anticipated opening for an energetic and motivated Education Assistant / Teacher Aide / Assistant Teacher.
An Education Assistant / Teacher Aide / Assistant Teacher assists the classroom teacher in delivering a developmentally appropriate, individualized educational program to all children in the classroom. Individual works Monday through Friday, August through June, following the program's school calendar. Individual must be available 7:30-3:30.
Requirements include:
- High School diploma or equivalent and completion of Child Development Associate (CDA) within 18 months of hire required. CDA credential or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- A patient and understanding manner with preschool children
- Perform the following activities without any health restrictions several times a day: stoop, run, drive, sit, walk, bend, lift children, prepare food, see and hear within normal ranges and be outside in all seasons
- Valid driver’s license
- Record of completed physical examination and TB test prior to hire and then every two years thereafter
- Maintain current on all required clearances within one year prior to hire and then every five years
Responsibilities include:
- Assist teachers in providing a learning environment and experiences which will help each child to develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and creatively
- Provides an Emotionally Supportive Classroom, Organized Classroom and Instructional Supportive Classroom utilizing strategies from CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System), TPOT (Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool) and PBIS
- Assists in implementing Creative Curriculum with fidelity
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy physical environment, conducive to learning and reflective of the different stages of development of the children
- Use active supervision strategies to ensure appropriate supervision of all enrolled children
- Work with the classroom team in planning and improving classroom instruction, problem solving and assisting the children’s families
- Assist in observing and recording each child’s growth and development
- Perform recordkeeping functions in a timely manner
- Ride the bus and be responsible for the children on the bus riding safely in their restraints (Must be able to sit in the center of the bus)
- Assumes the responsibilities of the classroom in the absence of the teacher and acts as the classroom teacher once CDA is attained
- Become certified in First Aid/CPR and Safe Crisis Management and perform if necessary
- Implements PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) with fidelity
