- Plan and implement rigorous, standards-based instruction for a variety of secondary mathematics courses as outlined in the DHS Program of Studies.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners.
- Utilize modern educational tools and mathematical software) to enhance conceptual understanding and student engagement.
- Design and administer authentic formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and use the resulting data to drive instructional adjustments.
- Engage actively in Common Planning Time with course-specific teams to align curriculum, develop shared assessments, and ensure instructional consistency across the department.
- Work within the larger Mathematics Department to vertically align curriculum, ensuring students are prepared for the transition between grade levels and advanced coursework.
- Attend and apply strategies from district-based and external professional development sessions, specifically focusing on current trends in mathematics pedagogy and district-wide instructional initiatives.
- Seek opportunities to collaborate with other departments (such as Science or Applied Tech) to demonstrate the real-world application of mathematical concepts.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages mathematical risk-taking and fosters a growth mindset.
- Implement effective, consistent classroom management strategies that prioritize student accountability and a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Provide students and families with regular, constructive feedback on academic performance and behavioral progress through the districts grading portal and direct communication.
- Actively participate in parent-teacher conferences, department meetings, and school-wide faculty meetings.
