What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classic Car Restoration Technician position at Daniels Performance Group?
Bring Legends Back to Life. Get Your Hands Dirty. Make History Shine.
Do you believe old cars have souls? Does the sound of a vintage V8 make your heart race? Do you think a little grease under your fingernails is a sign of a good day at work?
We’re looking for a Classic Car Restoration Technician who loves a good challenge, takes pride in their craftsmanship, and knows that the difference between a good restoration and a great one is in the details. From rumbling muscle cars to timeless cruisers, you’ll help transform automotive legends into head-turning works of art.
Fair warning: You may develop an unhealthy attachment to a few of the cars you work on.
Who We Are
We’re a team of classic car enthusiasts who believe these machines deserve more than a spot in the garage collecting dust. They deserve to roar down the road, turn heads at car shows, and make their owners grin like they’re 16 again.
Every vehicle that rolls into our shop has a story. Our job is to bring that story back to life—with skill, patience, creativity, and a healthy appreciation for old-school engineering.
We take our work seriously. We believe in quality craftsmanship, teamwork, a clean and organized shop, and the occasional well-timed carburetor joke.
What You’ll Do
AKA: Your days will be anything but boring.
Bring classics back to life. Restore vintage vehicles with precision, pride, and an eye for authenticity.
Make engines sing again. Diagnose mechanical problems, repair engines, and get classic powertrains running the way they should.
Turn wrenches like a pro. Repair, rebuild, tune, and refine engines, transmissions, suspensions, and other mechanical systems.
Make the details count. Tackle body repairs, electrical troubleshooting, interior components, and other restoration tasks as needed.
Track down the good stuff. Source, order, and return parts while keeping projects moving and avoiding unnecessary delays.
Keep projects on track. Help develop and manage customer vehicle budgets, monitor costs, and communicate when plans need to change.
Assist with invoicing, billing, and the administrative details that go along with quality restoration work.
Keep your workspace clean and organized. We love a beautifully restored car. We also love being able to find the 9/16 in. socket.
Take pride in the finished product. Deliver outstanding workmanship and customer service—and enjoy that moment when you step back and think, “Yep. That’s a beauty.”
What We’re Looking For
You don’t have to know every classic car ever built, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt. We’re looking for someone with the skills, attitude, and attention to detail to help us do exceptional work.
Experience in automotive repair, classic car restoration, or related hands-on mechanical work.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of engine repair, transmission work, powertrain components, and general automotive service procedures.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and appropriate automotive repair equipment.
Experience with welding, body repair, or fabrication techniques is a plus.
An eye for detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
The ability to stay organized, manage time, and keep projects moving within budget.
Professional communication skills and a customer-first attitude.
A team-oriented mindset, a positive attitude, and a willingness to keep learning.
The patience to do things right—even when the right way takes a little longer.
Most importantly: You care about the work you put your name on. You understand that a restoration isn't just about making a car look good. It's about making it right.
Bonus Points If You Can…
Make bodywork smooth enough to make a paint job shine.
Bring tired electrical systems back from the dead.
Track down hard-to-find parts without losing your sanity.
Identify a classic by its engine sound alone.
Tell the difference between “original patina” and “this definitely needs attention.”
Appreciate a good old-school muscle car debate without starting a shop-wide argument.
You don't need every bonus skill to be a great fit. We value strong fundamentals, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for classic automobiles.
What’s In It for You?
Competitive pay based on your experience and skill set.
The chance to work on incredible classic cars, vintage cruisers, and head-turning automotive projects.
A supportive team that values craftsmanship over ego.
Opportunities to expand your skills and take on new restoration challenges.
A hands-on work environment where no two projects are exactly alike.
The satisfaction of seeing a vehicle go from worn-out and forgotten to road-ready and unforgettable.
A shop atmosphere where car talk is encouraged, good work gets noticed, and the coffee is strong enough to start a cold V8.
Think You’re Our Kind of Gearhead?
If you love solving mechanical puzzles, take pride in a job well done, and get excited about giving classic cars a second chance at greatness, we want to hear from you.
