Requirements for the Position
- Proper Pennsylvania certification in a special education area
- Minimum requirement - B.S. or B.A. degree
- Satisfactory completion of student teaching
- The individual's credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.
- Plan and deliver instruction
- Design, implement and revise instructional programs based on student needs
- Encourage all students to learn well
- Maintain and report information on pupil progress
- Teach the subjects required in the curriculum and planned course documents of the school district
- Prepare and submit written lesson plans as a basis for the day's activities
- Attend IST, MDT, and IEP meetings or conferences at the request of the principal or special education supervisor
- Prepare, implement and revise student Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
- Coordinate related services and integration of special and regular classroom activities
- Plan for and direct support personnel including instructional aides and volunteers
- Maintain and report student progress, and child tracking information
- Participate in appropriate due process procedures
- Attend all faculty and building meetings
- Participate in all inservice and training activities
- Be familiar with district policies and execute said policies as may be required and in the manner required by the school's administration
- Encourage and support parental involvement
- Plan and initiate parent-teacher conferences when desirable
- Contribute to the development of the annual instructional budget

- Perform other duties assigned by the Building Principal and/or Special Education Supervisor
