Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.

DEFINITION
Under the general direction of the Health Officer, Medical Director and Public Health Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to clients in an outpatient sexual and reproductive health clinical setting. Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for public health clients. Demonstrates an advanced level of nursing clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and systems-based practice. The Assures safe, effective, culturally appropriate sexual and reproductive health care within the clinic setting. Educates individuals, groups, community organizations and health care providers about sexual and reproductive health care. Provides care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, and institutional policy agreements.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to sexual and reproductive health, such as but not limited to IUD insertion and removal. Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation, and epidemiology of sexual and reproductive health medical conditions. Performs physical assessments of clients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant, and appropriate for age, gender and clinical presentation. Provides expertise in STI/HIV and other sexual and reproductive health issues to assist in determining program direction. Coordinates and provide clinical services in SRH Clinic. Provides expertise in birth control services to assist in determining program direction. Contributes to the development of a vision for a healthy community. Collaborates with PHMDC across divisions to effectively coordinate programs and efforts. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
A Masters’ degree from an accredited Nursing Program. One (1) or more years of progressive experience in OB/GYN, Women’s Health, Reproductive Health or Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within six (6) months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment. Must have current licensure from the State of Wisconsin as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber. Must have active board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in OB/GYN, Women’s Health, or Family Medicine. Must be a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable personal motor vehicle transportation. Must obtain required immunizations within six (6) months of hire. Must carry personal professional liability coverage.
Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job’s responsibilities. Wisconsin’s Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 – 111.395, Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record. For Bilingual Positions:
- Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.).
- Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job.
*If applicable, individuals may confirm with the Employee Relations Division whether results of bilingual language certifications/ examinations they currently hold qualify them for the position’s bilingual designation.
Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Professional office and clinical work environment. Work involves walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping and reaching within normal ranges. Ability to lift and move a variety of work-related materials weighing up to 25 pounds with/without assistance. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Ability to speak and be heard by others. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. Prolonged computer and phone use. Ability to do injections, blood draws, reproductive health exams and testing, IUD insertion and removal, pelvic exams. Ability to be fitted and wear NIOSH 95 mask.
Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute sexual and reproductive health problems. Extensive knowledge of contraception methods. Knowledge of community resources and how to utilize them. Ability to work independently and interdependently. Ability to assess own practice. Ability and desire to learn and change. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with individuals, groups and communities. Demonstrates ability and willingness to learn. Demonstrates flexibility in response to change. Demonstrates ability to work well with individuals of all ages, cultures, race and ethnicity, learning abilities, lifestyles, etc.
Salary : $58
