Purpose Of Position
Under general supervision of MSCR/MMSD leadership, the Employee Health Nurse Practitioner provides specialized professional nursing expertise related to epidemiological trends and the transmission, treatment, and containment of communicable diseases within the MMSD community. In addition, this includes all prevention activities around communicable disease specifically around Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B. Duties require independent decision making, working knowledge of epidemiology that includes current clinical knowledge, treatment requirements, risk factors, infectious disease management and, current nursing techniques and case management related to treatment of public health outbreaks.
This position may need to work a flexible schedule with need for additional hours during peak hiring times in May, June, and September. Work schedule may fluctuate to be 4-8 hours per week and may include work time past 5:00 pm to accommodate the onboarding of new staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Provides all MSCR and supports MMSD TB Risk Assessment/Skin testing/and referrals for further testing. This is done in-person and through tele-health if necessary.
- Verifies Hepatitis B vaccination status for select employees and administers Hep-B vaccine course if needed.
- Maintains all policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with CDC, DHS and local public health guidance.
- Provides consultation and case management to prevent and monitor communicable diseases within the MMSD community.
- Participates in the coordination of communicable disease outbreak staff investigation and collaborates with Health Services leadership team as a MMSD consultant to Public Health Madison Dane County.
- Participate in all non-Covid outbreak investigations (ie. measles, mumps, pertussis) that involves MMSD/MSCR staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, family members, nursing staff, and all MMSD/MSCR employees.
- Follows district policies and promotes a positive image of the district at all times.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, utilizing safe work methods and procedures in accordance with MMSD Health Guidelines
- Maintains records and data pertaining to communicable disease management.
- Collaborates with School Nurses for communicable disease prevention/outbreaks/follow up.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the MSCR Human Resources Leadership team.
- Follows district policies and promotes a positive image of the district at all times.
- Required licensure: Family Nurse Practitioner with Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber
- CPR/AED certification.
- Experience working with communicable disease outbreaks.

- May need to sit for long periods of time.
- Work requires significant ambulatory movement, lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, good balance, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
- Ability to work under general safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury.
