Fabrication Shop Supervisor/Lead

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication drawings issued by the Project Manager and relay critical details to the Shop Lead.
• Collaborate with the Shop Lead and Project Manager to identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues with shop drawings.
• Oversee and enforce safety procedures and protocols within the production area to ensure a safe working environment.
• Manage inventory and coordination of main steel, fasteners, and buyout items with relevant team members.
• Supervise maintenance and repair of all shop equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
• Manage the ordering and inventory of shop consumables.
• Monitor the production schedule, ensuring timelines are met and promptly communicating any delays or changes to the Supervisor.
• Coordinate with the Logistics Supervisor on all incoming and outgoing deliveries.
• Create, maintain, and manage records of outgoing delivery tickets and work with Logistics to ensure signed delivery confirmations are received.

Experience & Technical Knowledge:

• 3–5 years of experience in a fabrication or metalworking environment, including 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
• Strong understanding of structural steel, welding techniques, and fabrication processes
• Ability to accurately read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications

Leadership & Communication:

• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate shop teams in a production-driven environment
• Clear and effective communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a hands-on leadership approach

Safety & Compliance:

• Solid knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety procedures
• Committed to maintaining and enforcing a culture of safety in all operations

Organizational & Operational Skills:

• Proven ability to manage production schedules and prioritize workloads efficiently
• Experience overseeing equipment maintenance and repair scheduling
• Familiarity with basic computer programs (ie Microsoft Office) for communication, tracking, and documentation

Education & Certifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Trade school, technical certification, or welding/fabrication training preferred
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus
