What are the responsibilities and job description for the Routing Supervisor (226 Days) position at Dallas Independent School District?
- Supervise and coordinate routing of district wide school transportation to ensure the safest and most efficient transportation service for our stakeholders. With a sense of urgency, proactively work to ensure all students are routed, stakeholder concerns are addressed, and service center teams are provided with timely information.
- In partnership with the routing manager, drive the development and coordination of general education routes, as well as routes for the districtwide special programs within the given deadline while adhering to district and state policies, guidelines, and procedures (i.e. Special Education and 504 programs).
- Collaborate with Student Transportation leadership, Central Departments, campus, and parents to ensure transportation needs are being met for all students.
- Supervise, evaluate, and provide guidance to assigned routing specialists.
- Serve as a liaison between the Special Education Department and Student Transportation Services
- Coordinate and generate state-required route descriptions and ridership data, which includes the completion and processing of daily attendance forms for SHARS.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents required for TEA reporting purposes.
- Accountable for ensuring transportation adheres to the ARD/504 requirements as it pertains to adaptive equipment, bus monitors, and the behavior intervention plan.
- Work with external vendors to order adaptive equipment as needed to meet ARD/IEP compliance.
- Serve as the primary contact with the routing software vendor to resolve issues related to special program routes.
- Attend ARD/504, department, or other district required meetings when applicable.
- Act as a content specialist and facilitator for various professional development opportunities throughout the year
- Responsible for collaborating with the leadership team to identify and retain highly qualified candidates to include attending job fairs throughout the year.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related work experience 2-3 years of supervisor experience
- 5 years of working with special student populations, or Student Transportation operations
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use computerized routing, GPS system, Microsoft Office, and various other computer programs;
- Proficient map reading skills;
- Ability to effectively direct and manage personnel
- Ability to think strategically/tactically and perceive organizational implications of recommendations and decisions
- Ability to research and solve problems
- Ability to manage single projects and multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work well in high pressure situations
