What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Head Baseball Coach position at Dallas Baptist University?
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
The Associate Head Baseball coach of the DBU Athletic Department is to provide instruction, motivation, and support of the Men’s Patriot Baseball team. The coach will provide support to the head coach in the administration of an NCAA Division I men’s baseball program including coaching, recruiting, training, scheduling, budget maintenance, academic support oversight, student-athlete discipleship, and marketing/promotion of program.

- Experience at the advanced level of college coaching
- Familiar with NCAA Division I bylaws
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide servant leadership in the organization and management of the baseball team.
- a) Provide Christ-centered discipleship ministry to the team and other assistant coaches through weekly team discipleship meetings under the supervision and direction of the head coach.
- b) Assist the head coach with coordinating player discipleship leaders as they facilitate small-group discipleship discussions, devotionals, and Bible studies.
- Administer the team in accordance with all applicable NCAA rules and guidelines.
- In coordination with the head coach and recruiting coordinator, passionately recruit incoming freshman and transfer student-athletes who possess competitive NCAA Division I collegiate athletic ability, understanding and appreciation for the Christ-centered mission of the University and athletic program; and a willingness to serve God through educational and athletic endeavors under the supervision and direction of the head coach.
- Efficiently schedule games with opposing teams in accordance with applicable conference and NCAA guidelines.
- Effectively manage operations budget in partnership with the head coach.
- Effectively manage scholarship budget in partnership with the head coach.
- In coordination with the Athletic Department, successfully promote games on-campus and in the metroplex community to increase attendance. Track and monitor attendance to measure attendance trends. Work with the Director of Athletics, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and the Student Affairs office to creatively market athletic events and coordinate promotions and marketing activities for home games.
- Execute tasks as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach.
WORK SCHEDULE:
A minimum of 40 hours per week or more to meet the requirements for a successful program. In-season and certain recruiting periods demand more time commitment.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
Qualifications:
- Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
