Payroll Administrator- Telecommunications
We are currently seeking a Payroll Administrator to support a system conversion project for a well-established and growing telecommunications company in Boston, MA. The Payroll Administrator plays a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of payroll, while maintaining full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position partners closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting teams, as well as Payroll leadership, to resolve discrepancies, uphold data integrity, and support the continuous enhancement of payroll processes. The ideal candidate will bring 3–6 years of payroll experience, be highly proficient in ADP Payroll Software, and thrive in a deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment.
This is a 6 month contract role offering $50–$55/hour (depending on experience), operating on a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite) in Boston.
Responsibilities:
Support end-to-end processing of biweekly U.S. payroll (multi-state, exempt and non-exempt), ensuring accuracy and efficiency
Review and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, timecards, and special earnings
Process off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, retroactive pay, and involuntary deductions (garnishments, levies)
Maintain data integrity across payroll systems (ADP Portal, ADP Vantage, Equifax Unemployment) and ensure accurate recordkeeping
Perform audits, reconciliations, and payroll tax support in coordination with ADP Tax to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Prepare ad hoc reports and support data analysis for internal stakeholders
Assist with system testing, updates, and issue resolution in partnership with HRIT/IT teams

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
3 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing
CPP or FPC certification preferred
Experience with ADP payroll systems and a strong understanding of payroll operations and HR cycles (shared services experience preferred)
Knowledge of payroll tax compliance, general ledger impacts, and multi-state reporting (international/expatriate tax exposure a plus)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, with a strong customer service orientation
High level of discretion in handling confidential information
Proficient in Microsoft Office and payroll systems (ADP preferred)
Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to drive solutions and meet deadlines
Office-based role with minimal travel (less than 10%)
