Senior Network Infrastructure Project Manager

Location: Remote work with 1-2x per month on site in Oakland, CA

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead and deliver complex IT projects with a focus on fiber network infrastructure, and iterative deployment methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in managing projects involving microwave networks, common facilities, network infrastructure, compute, storage, and associated tools. With a strong understanding of both waterfall and agile project management frameworks, the successful candidate will effectively drive project execution while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

This is not a hands-on engineering or cabling role. Instead, the PM should have a solid working knowledge of fiber network infrastructure, microwave networks, and network engineering concepts, enabling them to effectively manage engineers, vendors, and field teams. Experience coordinating network design and engineering efforts, understanding dependencies, and driving iterative, site-by-site deployments is key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage end-to-end IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Oversee projects related to network infrastructure (microwave, common facilities, and general network upgrades).
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, P&L reports, and resource allocation.
• Implement deployment strategies using an iterative approach to ensure smooth transitions and minimize disruptions.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including technical staff, vendors, and stakeholders, to ensure project success.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, updates, and reporting.
• Monitor and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
• Drive adoption of best practices in project management methodologies, balancing waterfall and agile approaches based on project needs.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project managers and team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex IT projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in network infrastructure (microwave, common facility, and general network solutions).
• Strong knowledge and experience in managing project financials such as budget and P&L.
• Strong knowledge of both waterfall and agile project management methodologies.
• Proven ability to lead iterative deployment strategies and manage multiple phases of project delivery.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in utility or energy sector projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Agile certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, SAFe).
