The Role
I am currently working with a leading General Contractor that delivers some of the most complex and technically challenging mission-critical projects in the market. With a strong pipeline of hyperscale data centre developments and major critical infrastructure projects, they are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to join their growing team.

The Senior Commissioning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and documentation of MEP systems throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and end clients, you will ensure systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in full compliance with project and operational requirements.
This position plays a critical role in driving commissioning strategies that support programme certainty, risk mitigation, and successful project handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and document day-to-day commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with all site safety requirements and industry regulations.
- Manage commissioning activities across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Building Management Systems (BMS), including testing, integration, and performance validation.
- Coordinate and direct field personnel, subcontractors, and specialist vendors to achieve commissioning milestones.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, identifying and resolving installation and commissioning issues.
- Provide regular updates on commissioning progress, risks, and critical issues to the project leadership team.
- Develop, maintain, and update commissioning schedules, startup programmes, and detailed look-ahead plans.
- Implement quality assurance and commissioning processes to ensure system reliability, functionality, and performance.
- Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with project standards and commissioning requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Site Leadership teams on sequencing, resource planning, and project execution strategies.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure all commissioning documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Manage system handover processes, including punch list closeout, owner training, and final turnover documentation.
- Attend and contribute to project coordination, commissioning, safety, scheduling, client, and closeout meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Services, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in MEP installation, commissioning, and maintenance, preferably within mission-critical, data centre, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or large-scale industrial environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems and associated Building Automation/Management Systems.
- Experience with industry standards and codes including ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, and relevant local regulations.
- Thorough understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application to MEP coordination and project delivery.
- Proven ability to lead commissioning teams and manage multiple stakeholders across complex projects.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Experience managing subcontractor performance and driving high-quality project outcomes.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
