This assessment helps ensure candidates have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the role and may also be used to identify opportunities for additional training and development. Employees may also be required to complete the same assessment within 90 days of placement to confirm technical proficiency and identify training needs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance capacity. Food or Medical plant experience is preferred, as well as knowledge of and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food manufacturing best practices.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Having bilingual skills would be a plus. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computer and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effective use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the facility. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hand to finger coordination; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Able to work extended schedules including weekends and overtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The successful candidate:
- Can read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
- Provides emergency repairs on production equipment to keep lines operational at all times.
- Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment including replacement of failed components such as bearings, belts, motors, power/control PLC’s program uploads or downloads from outside sources or OEM’s.
- Performs all backups and storage of Programs across the plant.
- Able to use PLC programs across equipment, using various software. With a strong emphasis in in the top five, Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider and Omron.
- Able to use and edit programs in Allen Bradley Suit: ControlLogix, GuardPLC, Softlogix, MicroLogix, SLC500, CompactLogix, Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk.
- Able to write new programs and install and diagnose problems during startup phase.
- Able to collaborate well with production line workers and supervisors, with a strong customer service mindset.
- Adjust various types of devices and control systems.
- Having previously installed, knowledge of, trouble shooting and repaired electrical systems, including 480v and below, and control voltage/systems.
- Understands facilities systems, and component functions and relationships, and is competent in their troubleshooting and repair.
