Our firm is recruiting on behalf of a financially strong, mid-size regional property and casualty insurance carrier with a long-standing reputation for disciplined underwriting, strong analytic capabilities, and customer-focused products. This organization operates across multiple states and offers a broad portfolio of personal lines, including auto, homeowners, and umbrella insurance.
This is a newly created, highly analytical leadership role focused on insurance product strategy, actuarial analysis, and risk-based decision-making. The Product Development Manager will play a key role in evaluating product performance, analyzing market and regulatory dynamics, and shaping product offerings to support profitability and long-term growth.
This position is best suited for an individual with a strong actuarial or analytics background who enjoys applying data, mathematics, and risk analysis to real-world insurance product decisions.
Job Description
The Personal Lines Product Development Manager is responsible for supporting the design, enhancement, and ongoing management of personal auto, homeowners, and umbrella insurance products across the organization’s operating footprint.
This role will evaluate product performance, identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, and develop data-driven recommendations to enhance competitiveness and profitability. The position partners closely with actuarial, underwriting, claims, compliance, IT, and project management teams to implement product enhancements and strategic initiatives while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include

Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead the development, evaluation, and recommendation of new products and enhancements to existing personal lines offerings
- Analyze insurance products across multiple states, assessing risk, pricing adequacy, and market competitiveness
- Develop short- and long-term product roadmaps for assigned lines of business
- Conduct competitive intelligence, market research, and consumer impact analysis to identify product opportunities
- Apply actuarial rigor and analytical models to evaluate consumer needs, loss trends, and profitability
- Present product recommendations to C Suite and other senior leadership, including executive-level stakeholders
- Oversee implementation of approved product initiatives, collaborating closely with project management, systems, and operations teams
- Support internal communication and education related to product changes for policyholders and staff
- Ensure product initiatives comply with regulatory requirements and align with organizational strategy
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience working with C-Suite leadership
- 3–5 years of experience in insurance product development, actuarial services, product management, or analytics, with progressive responsibility
- Experience working with personal lines insurance products (Auto, Homeowners, Umbrella)Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate risk, pricing, and performance across multiple jurisdictions
- Advanced Excel and database skills; proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated curiosity and problem-solving ability when addressing complex business and risk challenges
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability and willingness to work onsite on a regular, predictable schedule
- Degree in Business, Data Analytics, Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or a related field
- Exposure to actuarial modeling, product filings, or state regulatory environments
