Working closely with executive leadership, this role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, supporting decision-making, and strengthening operational performance. The position requires deep involvement in job costing, work-in-progress reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis, while also leading accounting teams and continuously improving financial systems and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Partner directly with the President and Vice President to support financial strategy and day-to-day operations
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, payroll, taxes, and financial reporting
- Manage job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance analysis
- Monitor project budgets and analyze actual costs versus estimates to support margin management
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts aligned with project timelines and backlog
- Provide financial analysis related to backlog, margins, and overall project performance
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Accounting staff
- Implement and improve internal controls, financial processes, and system efficiencies
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for leadership and operations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition
- Extensive experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly
- Hands-on leadership style with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience in the construction or project-based industry
- ERP system experience; familiarity with Sage 300 or similar platforms is a plus
- Demonstrated success implementing or improving internal financial controls
- Experience supporting senior leadership in a growing or evolving organization
