The ideal candidate is primarily knowledgable in medical billing and coding but is also capable of performing multiple administrative tasks within the setting of a small independent medical practice that specializes in treatment of patients with substance use disorders. Even though the main focus will be handling billing processes and insurance claims, there will also be multiple administrative duties to facilitate the overall functioning of the office. This full-time role requires interaction with insurance companies, our billing service vendor, healthcare providers, treatment centers and patients to facilitate the business aspects of our practice. The ideal candidate will manage routine claim submissions, address denied claims, and be able to support general office operations with strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Process billing and submit insurance claims accurately and timely
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Post payments and manage patient accounts
- Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and resolve denials
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, vendors, treatment facilities and healthcare providers
- Perform general administrative tasks related to medical office operations
- Collaborate as a team player within a small office environment
- Maintain high attention to detail in all billing and documentation tasks
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in medical billing
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with medical billing software
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
- Experience with insurance claims processing
- Strong attention to detail and data entry skills
- Effective communication and time management abilities
