The Associate Banker will work with the market’s agricultural banking team to ensure sound portfolio administration and support business development efforts. The position will require strong collaboration with the market president, banking team, and the Credit Administration Department.
The Associate Banker’s primary role is to assist with underwriting and closing procedures, administer a quality loan portfolio, and work with the customer base alongside the agricultural banking team. This role will accelerate the banking team’s sale efforts by managing their administrative responsibilities. The individual must have strong understanding of credit underwriting and structuring, internal credit administration policy/procedures, and be detail oriented.
The Associate Banker may manage a modest loan portfolio if all primary duties are adequately covered.

Essential Functions

- Prepare loan presentations for the banking team.
- Help present recommendations to credit approvers.
- Manage credit administration processes such as annual reviews, trend cards, overdrafts, delinquent loans, conditions of credit approval, problem loan reports, etc.
- Prepare pre-flight presentations for prospective transactions.
- Negotiate with customers/prospects alongside banking team.
- Assist with executing loan documentation and closing transactions.
- Assist the market’s business development efforts by managing SalesForce prospect lists and activity logs.
- Manage a modest loan portfolio.
- Partner with internal stakeholders on projects and other initiatives to improve the operations and culture of the Bank.
- Identify and provide recommendations for internal process improvement.
- Foster a collaborative and winning culture for the market and bank.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2 years of experience in community banking or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship building both internally and with clients and prospects.
- Strong credit/analytical skills.
- Highly detail oriented.
- Highly developed communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise credit correspondence.
- Capability to manage various relationships independently and proactively and effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to advocate persuasively.
- Ability to learn and multitask efficiently.
- Proficient with technology including MS Excel, MS outlook, Moody’s underwriting, and SalesForce.
- At least two years of analyzing, negotiating, and/or structuring loan transactions in a business bank lending environment.
- Credit analysis training or experience appropriate for the job requirements.
