Description
The Air Import Specialist is responsible for coordinating all aspects of air import shipments.
- Prepares issues and submits documentation to ensure proper exportation of cargo.
- Ensures that service commitments are achieved and maintained in accordance with client and company objectives.
- Provides clients with information and guidance concerning terms of delivery & payment, insurance, services or other matters affecting the their needs.
- Arranges for consolidation and/or deconsolidation of containers.
- Ensures that invoicing of rendered services is completed accurately and in a timeframe consistent with company policy.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in Air Import preferred.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with contract interpretation.
- Ability to negotiate rates with airlines and truckers
- Hazardous Materials experience a plus.
- Desire and ability to provide excellent customer service required, while maximizing profit.
- Professional demeanor, including excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Stellar organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team environment where keeping open communication among your colleagues is vital.
- Proficiency in Windows programs, specifically Word and Excel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ Work Environment:
- No heavy lifting is expected; although exertion of up to 20 pounds of force may be required on occasion.
- Manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
- Sitting for extended periods of time is common.
- Hearing and vision within average range to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
- This position is performed in a traditional office setting.
