Responsibilities
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, grooming, and health monitoring of livestock such as cattle, horses, and other farm animals
- Operate heavy machinery and farm equipment safely, including tractors, irrigation systems, and other specialized tools
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on equipment using hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and basic mechanical knowledge
- Manage fencing, corrals, and shelter structures to ensure animal safety and secure enclosures
- Support planting, harvesting, greenhouse management, and horticulture activities to promote healthy crop growth
- Handle heavy lifting tasks related to feed storage, equipment setup, or livestock movement
- Supervise or assist with fellow team members in daily tasks to foster a collaborative work environment
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience or leadership skills in a farm or ranch setting preferred
- Mechanical knowledge with experience repairing farm machinery and equipment
- Strong animal husbandry skills with a focus on animal care and handling techniques
- Ability to operate forklifts and heavy equipment safely; certification is a plus
- Hands-on experience with irrigation systems, farming practices, horticulture or greenhouse management
- Familiarity with welding, power tools, hand tools, and general maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of equine care if working with horses; previous growing experience is advantageous
- Basic math skills for measurements, record keeping, and inventory management
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions
