Plastics Extrusion/Thermoforming Commissioning Technician

Help manufacturers move, install, and bring complex machinery online—safely and efficiently—anywhere in the country.

• Lead with safety: follow D-Riven and customer EHS procedures from job kickoff through handoff.
• Rig, install, assemble, disassemble, relocate, and service mechanical industrial assets.
• Move equipment using Versa-lifts, millwright casters, forklifts, overhead cranes, and related rigging systems.
• Install to engineered drawings and schematics; verify layout, placement, leveling, and alignment.
• Document disassembly steps to ensure precise reassembly at the destination.
• Diagnose issues; inspect machinery and address defects or malfunctions.
• Execute mechanical repairs: bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, and chains.
• Perform preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, alignment) to prevent downtime.
• Partner with engineers and technicians to solve complex site challenges.
• Modify utilities—chilled water, tower water, natural gas, compressed air—by fabricating and installing threaded, grooved, or pressed piping.
• Palletize equipment and prepare shipments for transfers between facilities.
• Load/unload dry vans and specialty trailers using powered equipment.
• Care for tools and parts inventory; support general site tasks.

• 100% travel with multi-week assignments (often 3–4 weeks or longer). As a travel team member, expect continuous travel with occasional breaks, especially during holidays.
• Company books and pre-pays hotels, flights, and rental cars.
• Mileage reimbursed at $0.725/mile when using your personal vehicle to reach the work site from home (hotel-to-jobsite mileage is not reimbursed).
• $70.00 daily per diem.
• Accrual of 120 hours of PTO (vacation, sick, personal), available with manager approval.
• Health coverage effective the first day of the month after your start date.

• Willingness and ability to travel nationwide full time (100%).
• Reliable vehicle suitable for interstate driving.
• Personal basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets).
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Math skills applicable to mechanical work.
• Foundational understanding of electrical systems.

• Assessment, documentation, disassembly, palletization, and rigging of plastics extrusion equipment (single and twin barrel extruders).
• Experience with plastics material feed systems: vacuum pumps, transfer piping, desiccant dehumidifiers, gas-fired dryers, crystallizers, and vacuum loaders.
• Experience with pellet feed systems, including vacuum pumps, transfer piping, and desiccant dehumidification.
• Layout, placement, leveling, and commissioning of extrusion and thermoforming machinery.
• Work with thermoformers (Lyle, Brown, GN, Kirkhoff).
• Safe practices near web scanner radioactive sources.
• Operation of Versa-lifts, Hillmann Traksporters (walk-behind and remote), and carry-deck cranes.
