The Sales Manager manages sales activities of the dealership by performing the following duties:
- Implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
- Monitors customer and market analyses to determine customer preference.
- Establishes recommended unit sales and dollar gross profit objectives for the daily operating control.
- Assists sales representatives with maintaining customer relationships, negotiating, and closing deals.
- Maintains standards for delivery of vehicles to customers.
- Assists with the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
- Complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicle sales.
- Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.
- Manages vehicle inventories in a time sensitive fashion.
- Attends auction as necessary.
- Enforces a three day turn policy.
- Establishes standards for appraising all vehicles.
- Establishes and controls wholesaling.
- Requires being at work on time and have satisfactory attendance.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 2-25 employees in the Sales Department. Carriers out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individual must have excellent interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to interpret customer needs, basic computer knowledge, ability to work well with others, professional appearance, good math and clerical skills, working knowledge of office machines. Individuals must possess a positive attitude, be a self-starter, motivated, have excellent organization skills and be goal oriented. Must be able to work weekends and overtime. Individual should be honest, ethical, dependable and a team player.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and two years of related education or 5 years of related experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
