What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier Driver position at D&K LLC?
We're Hiring – 1099 Route Drivers
We're looking for reliable drivers for a community outreach program very easy job, for those who dont mine talking for 2-3 minutes at a time
If you don't like talking to people or you're not a people person, this job isn't for you.
Your job is to follow a planned route, visit locally small owned businesses, and ask the owner or cashier if they'll allow us to leave our flyer display. A typical introduction is:
"Hi, we're with a community outreach program helping connect people to affordable internet and phone services. Would you mind if we left our flyer display here so customers can learn more?"
Pay & Schedule
The position pays $100 per day plus $10 per day for gas.
- Monday–Friday: $550 per week ($500 in pay $50 gas)
- Monday–Saturday: $660 per week ($600 in pay $60 gas)
You must be willing to work Monday through Saturday if needed, with 8-hour shifts each day in the field. If you meet or exceed your expected activity during the week, you may not need to work Saturday. In that case, Saturday becomes optional if you'd like to earn extra money.
Work Hours
You have flexibility in choosing your start time. You may start as early as 8:00 a.m. and as late as 2:00 p.m. However, regardless of when you start, you are expected to complete a full 8-hour shift. For example:
- Start at 8:00 a.m. → Work until 4:00 p.m.
- Start at 10:00 a.m. → Work until 6:00 p.m.
- Start at 2:00 p.m. → Work until 10:00 p.m.
Please keep in mind that later start times mean you'll be working later into the evening.
While you have flexibility, we do want a consistent schedule. Let us know your normal start time, and if you need to adjust it on a particular day, simply send a text in advance. For example, if you normally start at 9:00 a.m. but need to start at 11:00 a.m. one day, just let us know. We understand things come up—we simply ask that you communicate any schedule changes ahead of time.
Our focus is helping low-income communities, so you'll visit places like barbershops, beauty salons, corner stores, liquor stores, restaurants, and other locally owned businesses.
Once enough locations are established, your job becomes even easier. Instead of finding new stores, you'll mainly revisit existing locations to restock flyers and keep the displays full.
Routes are clustered, with most stops only 3–7 minutes apart, and the goal is to average 10 or more store visits per hour.
Requirements:
Reliable vehicle (25 MPG preferred)
Valid driver's license and insurance
Friendly, outgoing personality
Comfortable talking with business owners and cashiers
Willing to work throughout all areas of Louisville
If you're interested, send me your name and phone number, and I'll reach out with more details.
Pay: $100.00 per day
Application Question(s):
- What time can you consistently start, and can you commit to working 8 hours per day? (Examples: 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, or 12:00 PM. Please answer in a complete sentence.)
- Do you understand this is a new Louisville market, that pay is $100 per day (Monday–Friday), paid weekly every Friday via Cash App, and that if you do not have a Cash App, you must set one up if hired?
- This is a very easy job. We provide your route, and most stops are only 3–7 minutes apart. Simply go into each business, ask if they'll allow us to leave our community outreach flyers, then move to the next stop. If they say no, make a note in the app and continue. Our expectation is about 10 stores per hour. Once your route is established, your job becomes simply restocking flyers at those same businesses. Are you comfortable with that? Yes or No.
- Most of this job involves briefly talking with business owners or cashiers, introducing our community outreach program, explaining how we're helping people save money on internet service, and asking if we can leave our flyers. This requires a friendly attitude, positive energy, and a smile. Is that something you feel like you possess?
- Do you have anything on your background that may show up during a background check? Please be honest. If you fail to disclose something that later appears on your background check, your services may be terminated immediately. If yes, please explain below.
- Since this is a 1099 position, you'll be using your own vehicle. Do you have a reliable, gas-efficient car? Approximately how many miles per gallon (MPG) does it get?
- This role is ideal for gig workers, such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, or Lyft drivers, because it provides stable weekday income while still giving you time to continue your other work. It's also a great fit for someone who is currently unemployed. If you already have another job, that's okay too, as long as your schedule allows it.
Do you currently work? If so, where do you work, and what is your schedule?
- We also offer an optional commission program. If you're interested, you can sell affordable internet services and earn $50 for every customer you sign up. We provide the addresses, or you can sign people up at the businesses you're already visiting or other approved locations. These commissions are paid separately at the end of each month. For example, if you sign up 12 customers in a month, you'll earn an additional $600.
Is this something you'd be interested in as an opportunity to earn extra income?
- Please explain in as much detail as possible why you believe you'd be a great fit for this role. Be honest and tell us about your work ethic, communication skills, reliability, customer service experience, or any other qualities that would make you successful in this position.
- Please understand that this position requires traveling throughout Louisville, including neighborhoods such as the West End, Portland, and other areas where our partner businesses are located. You must be comfortable entering local businesses in any assigned area and interacting professionally with business owners and customers. If you are uncomfortable working in certain parts of the city, this position is not for you.
- Speaking another language is not required for this position, but it is a plus. Do you speak any language(s) other than English? If yes, please list the language(s) and your level of fluency.
- The pay for this position is $500 per week ($100 per day, Monday–Friday). Please note that payroll is paid one week behind. For example, if you begin work on a Monday, you'll work your first week, and then receive payment for those hours on the following Friday.
Does this pay schedule work for you?
- During your first 60 days, we expect you to work your assigned Monday–Friday schedule with no planned time off. After your first 90 days, we simply ask that you provide at least one week's notice if you need to take time off. Please remember that, as a 1099 contractor, any days you do not work are unpaid.
Do you understand and agree to these expectations?
- Occasionally, you may be asked to pick up baskets from Dollar Tree or Walmart, which we use to display our flyers inside partner businesses. The cost of the baskets will be reimbursed the same day or the following day. We also include a $10 daily gas allowance, making your weekly pay $550. After 90 days of successful performance, your gas allowance increases to $15 per day, even if you spend less.
- Because this is a 1099 position, you have the flexibility to train a reliable replacement to cover your route when you're unavailable. Your replacement must be at least 21 years old, and you are responsible for training them. We only pay you for the route, and any payment to your replacement is between you and them. We simply ask that you notify us in advance when someone else will be covering your route.
Work Location: On the road
