What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist position at Cypress Health and Wellness?
Full Time Position: Monday-Friday
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:15am-5:30pm and Friday 7:15am-1:30pm
Job Duties include:
1. Maintain behavior that is compliant with Federal and State regulations, guidelines, and requirements including working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA.
2. Greet, register, instruct, discharge and provide general assistance to patients.
3. Obtain and record demographic, insurance and financial information.
4. Verify insurance eligibility and relay relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes.
5. Determine the amounts of and collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles and past due balances.
6. Retrieve and fax/mail medical records to primary care providers and insurance carriers per patient request.
7. Answer telephone, take messages and return voicemails.
8. Provide clerical support as required.
9. Obtain medical records for patients
10. Obtain prior authorization for tests, medications, and procedures.
11. Clean office and work areas and ensure supplies are properly stocked

13. The ability to maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees
14. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that results in a positive work relationship with customers, co- workers and managers.
15. Cross train to medical assistant duties
Experience Requirements and Preferences:
Medical office experience and a familiarity with basic medical terminology preferred.
Medical assistant certification preferred.
Ability to work independently and with the public in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to multitask without supervision
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communications skills.
Must have an outgoing and compassionate personality.
