Management Company Controller — NYC (In‑Office)
Base: $175K–$225K Bonus
A Midtown NYC asset management firm is seeking a Management Company Controller to join our growing team. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee management company accounting, strengthen financial reporting, and support the continued build‑out of our finance infrastructure. Significant exposure to alternative assets—hedge funds, private equity, or commodities—is strongly preferred.
Lead accounting and financial reporting for the management company and related entities
Manage monthly/quarterly/annual close and U.S. GAAP financials
Oversee management fees, carried interest, GP entities, and intercompany activity
Support budgeting, forecasting, and process/control enhancements
Handle complex capital activity, waterfalls, LP allocations, and investor reporting
Coordinate audits, tax reporting (including K‑1s), and external advisors
Monitor tax law changes and ensure compliance with internal controls
Supervise and mentor junior staff; assist in building out the accounting function
8–15 years in management company and/or fund accounting within alternatives
Commodities exposure a plus; Big 4 experience preferred
Prior Controller or Head of Finance experience beneficial
B.S. in Accounting/Finance; CPA preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 820/946, partnership accounting, and complex structures
Salary : $175,000 - $225,000
