Job Summary:
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for developing and implementing programs and policies that ensure the overall safety and health of employees while enabling compliant business operations. This role applies in-depth knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and management systems. The EHS Engineer acts as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for site compliance and maturity, integrating regulatory requirements into site processes and supporting sustainability initiatives. The role also ensures the site maintains ISO 14001 certification and remains audit-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a key contributor to all EHS initiatives on-site
• Act as deputy EHS Leader in the absence of the EHS Leader
• Participate in and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations
• Function as a Subject Matter Expert within the EHS team
• Support new equipment projects from design through operational stages as EHS representative
• Lead and influence safety and sustainability campaigns across the site
• Interface with regulatory authorities and insurance representatives on EHS matters
• Maintain expertise in machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and technical safety programs
• Track and support site sustainability goals and project completion
• Contribute to maintaining ISO 14001 certification and audit readiness
• Participate in broader EHS programs as required
• Promote a positive safety culture and influence employees across all levels
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field
• OR Bachelor’s/Associate degree in a technical or EHS field with 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience leading EHS projects and teams
• Certifications such as ASP, CSP, or CIH preferred
• Experience in environmental compliance, reporting, permitting, and regulatory adherence
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
• Experience with Title V reporting and regulations
• Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 compliance preferred
