Job Overview:
Responsibilities:
- Leads architectural design and strategy for complex mainframe systems, including z/OS, Db2, CICS, storage, security, and MQ components.
- Develops conceptual, logical, and physical architecture models aligned with business and technology strategies.
- Monitors and analyzes system performance, identifying bottlenecks and performing tuning for optimal efficiency and capacity.
- Ensures system scalability, high availability, security, and implementation of backup and recovery strategies.
- Defines and executes modernization strategies, including integration with cloud platforms, microservices, and API-based architectures.
- Supports migration of legacy applications and data to modern platforms.
- Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development and infrastructure teams.
- Diagnoses and resolves complex technical issues and provides L3 support for system and middleware components.
- Develops and maintains technical documentation, including architecture designs, processes, and system configurations.
- Establishes and enforces architecture governance standards and best practices.
- Collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Required Skills:
Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, Db2, VSAM, REXX, PL/I, and Assembler.
- Experience working with z/OS operating systems and core mainframe components.
Tools And Utilities:
- Proficiency with JCL utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER.
- Experience with debugging and testing tools such as IBM Debug Tool and Xpeditor.
- Familiarity with change management tools such as Endeavor and SCLM.
Modern Technologies:
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern development practices.
Additional Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting complex systems.
