Key Responsibilities
Prevention
Provide consultation and in-service training to school staff regarding communication development and disorders.
Engage with parents and parent groups to support prevention efforts and early identification.
Identification
Participate in pre-referral processes through student support teams.
Conduct speech and language screenings and manage referrals for students entering the evaluation process.
Assessment
Gather and analyze data using standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
Interpret assessment outcomes and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports.
Share results with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary team members.
Determine eligibility for speech-language services and contribute to the development of IEPs.
Intervention
Manage caseload scheduling and service delivery.
Provide direct therapy within the educational setting or through pull-out sessions.
Consult with teachers on academic, social, and communication concerns.
Develop and update treatment goals and maintain ongoing progress documentation.
Participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and collaboration with the educational team.
Administrative & Compliance
Maintain caseload records for special education funding.
Manage IEPs, evaluation documents, and progress reports within a web-based system.
