Product Definition Engineer
Location: Jupiter, FL or East Hartford, CT
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR restrictions
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Definition Engineer with deep expertise in mechanical design, drawing creation, and manufacturing integration for complex aerospace components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), manufacturing processes, and product definition standards—with the ability to both create and review detailed engineering drawings in compliance with aerospace requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manipulate complex solid models and assemblies in NX (UG).
- Develop detailed component and assembly drawings (prints) with full GD&T application.
- Review and check final drawings produced by junior engineers for accuracy and compliance.
- Incorporate development and production engineering changes affecting Bills of Material (BOM) and component interfaces.
- Interface and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines to exchange data supporting engine builds and drawing releases.
- Develop and design solutions to part definition and assembly challenges in accordance with customer and program requirements.
- Generate engineering markups on detail and assembly prints based on design requirements and customer input.
- Perform final checks on Cyient-produced prints prior to customer release.
- Communicate design definition clearly and effectively with internal and external customers.
- Produce complex integration documents and major assemblies, including:
- Product definition part drawings
- Cross-section layouts
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Component Interface Coordination Requirements
- Installation and assembly drawings
- Material mapping layouts
- Mount and maneuver load documentation
- Ground handling identification and load definition drawings
- Interpret and apply part-family–specific geometric form control per ASME Y14.5M standards.
Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant Product Definition experience, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- 5 years of experience checking drawings, ideally to Pratt & Whitney standards.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, stamping, casting, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and machining.
- Proficiency with NX (UG) and Teamcenter required.
- Experience working within Externals or Mechanical Components disciplines preferred.
- Familiarity with Class II processes and ability to process part-family–specific Class II Engineering Changes (including marked prints) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to ITAR restrictions)
