Position Overview:
We are looking for a Mid-Level Avionics Certification Engineer with hands-on experience in DO-178B software certification. You will play a critical role in planning, executing, and maintaining software certification activities, working closely with Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) and cross-functional avionics teams. This role is ideal for professionals who are detail-oriented, compliance-focused, and driven to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support software certification planning and execution in accordance with DO-178B standards.
- Prepare, review, and maintain certification documentation, including PSAC, SDP, SVP, HLR, LLR, SCI, and other lifecycle artifacts.
- Support and participate in SOI (Stage of Involvement) audits with FAA/EASA and internal DERs.
- Conduct reviews of artifacts and processes using standard SOI checklists to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
- Collaborate closely with DERs, software development, and verification teams to resolve audit findings and ensure traceability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for certification processes, documentation, and audit readiness.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 8–10 years of experience in avionics software development and verification.
- Hands-on experience with DO-178B certification processes and related documentation.
- Solid understanding of SOI audits, review processes, and compliance checklists.
- Experience working in safety-critical software development and verification environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of FAA/EASA certification processes and regulatory standards.
- Experience with Cabin and Interior Systems or similar avionics subsystems.
- Previous experience in large OEM environments (e.g., Boeing, Airbus) or working directly with certification authorities.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.
