Our customer is a global medical device company. The ideal candidate brings 10 years of R&D experience as a mechanical engineer in a regulated industry, with strong documentation skills, mentorship experience, and hands-on electro-mechanical device expertise.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering, guiding technical decisions and problem-solving
- Develop solutions for complex electro-mechanical and pneumatic design challenges
- Contribute to the creation of product specifications and engineering reports
- Lead or support conceptual design using CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the development process
- Build and test prototypes to ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Generate technical documentation to support design efforts
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
- Act as Lead Engineer or Project Leader on small- to medium-sized projects
Qualifications
- BSME or MSME with 10 years of experience in electro-pneumatic product development, including technical project oversight
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, MCAD/CAE tools, and database management software
- Strong understanding of DFM/A and a variety of manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal, machining, etc.)
- Familiarity with ANSI/ISO dimensioning, GD&T, and thermal/structural/vibration analysis and testing methodologies
- Experience with regulatory standards including FDA, IEC, and UL for medical electronic equipment
- Skilled in the use of test equipment (pressure/flow meters, temperature/humidity chambers, DVMs, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- Comfortable operating basic shop tools (lathe, drill press, milling machine, etc.)
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Visio, Project, and Adobe Acrobat preferred
- Familiarity with electronic document control systems in a medical device environment
