We're seeking a seasoned professional to join a dynamic production environment focused on low-volume, high-mix operations for a Sr Manufacturing Engineering role that is ideal for someone who thrives in complex fabrication settings and enjoys driving process improvements from concept to execution.
What You'll Do
- Manufacturing Process Development: Create and maintain detailed manufacturing workflows, including operation sequences, labor standards, and tooling requirements for machined and fabricated components.
- CNC & Machining Expertise: Optimize setups and processes for multi-axis CNC equipment (3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling, turning, boring), ensuring repeatability and precision.
- Materials Engineering: Apply deep knowledge of metals and alloys (steels, castings, forgings) to select appropriate materials and treatments for durability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Documentation & Routing: Develop and maintain accurate work instructions, BOMs, and routing documentation to support production teams.
- Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to reduce cycle times, improve quality, and lower operating costs across machining, fabrication, and assembly operations.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with design engineers and production staff to resolve manufacturability issues and implement engineering changes.
- Inspection & Quality: Utilize GD&T principles and precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to validate part conformance and support NDE testing protocols.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Five or more years of experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
- Strong background in CNC machining and fixture/workholding design
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred)
- Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods and material properties
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams
- Passion for continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles
