Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced R&D Analytical Scientist to support analytical development and testing for new and existing products. The successful candidate will develop, optimize and validate HPLC and other analytical methods, analyze experimental data, and provide actionable insights to cross-functional R&D teams. This role requires strong analytical chemistry expertise, meticulous record-keeping, and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced laboratory environment. Experience with cGMP and regulated environments is a plus.
Compensation: $60k - $110k base salary DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize and validate HPLC methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing using HPLC and complementary techniques (e.g., UV, pH, titration) and accurately record results.
- Design and execute experiments to support formulation development, stability studies and troubleshooting of analytical methods.
- Analyze chromatographic and spectral data, prepare reports, interpret results and present findings to R&D teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, SOPs, validation protocols and other documentation to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.
- Support method transfer to QC and manufacturing, including training of laboratory personnel and generation of transfer documentation.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and coordinate maintenance or service as needed to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (formulation, process development, quality) to align analytical strategy with project goals and timelines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and adopt best practices for laboratory safety and quality, including cGMP where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related field (PhD preferred but not required).
- Proven experience in an R&D analytical role with hands-on experience developing and validating HPLC methods.
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and experience with chromatography data systems (e.g., Empower, ChemStation) and basic laboratory instrumentation.
- Familiarity with method validation parameters (accuracy, precision, specificity, linearity, robustness, LOQ/LOD).
- Practical experience in a regulated environment and knowledge of cGMP is highly desirable.
- Excellent documentation skills, attention to detail, and experience preparing technical reports and SOPs.
- Good problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and work effectively within cross-functional project teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to laboratory safety and quality standards.
