Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Personal Injury Attorney to represent individuals who have suffered physical, emotional, or financial harm due to the negligence or misconduct of others. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of personal injury matters from intake through resolution, including negotiation and trial when necessary, to obtain fair compensation for clients. This role requires strong litigation and advocacy skills, excellent client communication, and a commitment to achieving results.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client intake, evaluate potential claims, and provide clear legal guidance on case viability and options.
- Develop and implement case strategy tailored to each clients needs, including litigation and settlement approaches.
- Prepare and file pleadings, complaints, motions, and other court documents in compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Manage discovery processes: draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, and subpoenas; prepare for and take depositions.
- Review and analyze medical records, accident reports, expert opinions, and other evidence to build persuasive case theories.
- Negotiate with insurance companies and opposing counsel to secure fair settlements while protecting client interests.
- Prepare for and try cases in court when settlements are not achievable; deliver opening statements, examine witnesses, and present closing arguments.
- Maintain regular, compassionate communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and advising on decisions.
- Collaborate with paralegals, investigators, medical experts, and other professionals to support case preparation and trial readiness.
- Manage caseload, track deadlines, maintain accurate case files, and ensure compliance with ethical and procedural requirements.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice in Illinois
- 2 years of experience in personal injury law; proven experience handling injury claims from intake through resolution.
- Proven litigation and trial experience, with the ability to try cases to verdict and present persuasive courtroom arguments.
- Strong knowledge of tort law, statutes of limitations, insurance practices, and procedures related to personal injury matters.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; ability to draft persuasive pleadings and motions.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience resolving complex claims with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
- Comfortable working on a contingency fee basis and managing client expectations and case budgets.
- High ethical standards, strong client-service orientation, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple active cases under deadlines.
