This role involves collaborating with project managers and engineers to analyze project specifications, scope, and requirements to deliver competitive bids and ensure project profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to determine mechanical estimating requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal.
- Collaborate with project teams to gather information and clarify project scope and requirements.
- Analyze historical data and market trends to develop pricing strategies.
- Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for commercial projects.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and information.
- Provide support during the preconstruction phase, including value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the estimating process.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating for commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
