Position Overview
A highly respected and results-driven plaintiff-side litigation firm is seeking a skilled and ambitious Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial matters.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents in state and federal courts.
- Conduct legal research and draft persuasive written memoranda and trial materials.
- Handle discovery efforts, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony.
- Prepare and argue motions, attend hearings, and represent clients at mediations and trials.
- Negotiate settlements and coordinate with opposing counsel to resolve disputes when appropriate.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, provide case updates, and advise on strategy and risk.
- Collaborate with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff to meet deadlines and manage case workflow.
- Maintain accurate case files, calendars, and billing records; ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical obligations.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar where practice will occur.
- Required: Demonstrated Litigation skills with at least 3 years of civil litigation experience (or equivalent combination of experience and demonstrated competence).
- Preferred: Trial experience and courtroom advocacy with a track record of handling hearings and jury trials.
- Preferred experience in Personal Injury, Commercial Motor Vehicle litigation, and general Civil Litigation matters.
- Experience handling depositions, drafting and opposing motions, and managing discovery obligations.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; ability to prepare clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload while meeting deadlines.
- Professional demeanor with strong client-facing skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Proficiency with litigation support software, case management systems, and standard office technology.
- Willingness and ability to travel to court, depositions, and client meetings as required.
